Carrak Consulting has performed environmental due diligence on an African nickel mine for technical reporting to international mining code standards.

Carrak Consulting is pleased to have completed an environmental and social due diligence exercise on a nickel mine in southern Africa on behalf of North Coast Consulting Ltd (NCC). The underground mine is currently on Care and Maintenance and looking to reopen with new investment.

The environmental and social review evaluated previous operational performance at the site, on-going monitoring and CSR initiatives against international best practice standards. Carrak Consulting conducted interviews with the environmental team at the mine, reviewed records and liaised with the appointed community development specialists in order to identify any inherent risks or liabilities.

Kathy Hicks, Managing Director of Carrak Consulting, is recognised as a ‘Qualified Person’ under Canadian National Instrument (NI) 43-101 standards for the production of technical reports relating to mineral projects. Reports prepared under this Instrument are generally intended to support mineral developers to list on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX).

Based on the findings of the due diligence, Carrak Consulting prepared the environmental and social chapters of the NI 43-101 report for NCC and their end-client.
